Fashion at the White House State Dinner

Above: Samantha Cameron, First Lady Michelle Obama, guest of honour Prime Minister David Cameron, and President Barack Obama

It was like the Golden Globes at the White House for the State Dinner Wednesday night. We get to see the First Lady and her guests clad in gowns and jewels... and the usual tailored suits for the men. Michelle Obama was beautiful in a gown by Marchesa and a Tim Binns statement necklace. I feel like I've seen this look on Mrs. O before but I love the colour on her and she looks every bit the way a First Lady should.

The British Prime Minister's wife Samantha Cameron opted for an Alessandra Rich 3/4 sleeve dress from his Spring 2012 Collection. I like the print and the colour on her but I wish her hair was worn differently. The dress is already so covered, her hair should have been pulled away from her face so we can actually see her.

Other notable mentions included:

Marchesa designer Georgina Chappman wowed in one of her own creations from her Spring 2012 Collection.

Queen of the industry, Anna Wintour is still being bashed for the repeat appearance of this Chanel Couture dress from their 2009 Collection, which she also wore to the 2009 Met Gala. I personally don't see the big deal, it's been 3 years, she's not a highlight at the event and oh jeez people - in real life women wear dresses more than once. Get over it!

British actors Damian Lewis and Helen McCrory made a handsome pair in black & white.

Yours,

A.
